D Day was on June 6, 1944 were 160,00 allied troops landed onto the French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircrafts assisted in the D Day battle. More than 9,000 allies were killed or wounded but more than 100,000 soldiers began to march to defeat Hitler.
Another big battle was The Battle for Moscow, where 500,000 men and women dug 5,000 miles of trenches around the city. Equipment from 500 factories were shipped to keep it out of Nazi hands.
